Postdoctoral Research Associate – Opening Soon

We are seeking an ambitious experimental scientist to become the first postdoctoral researcher in the Nicholson Lab. The successful candidate will investigate how heritable epigenetic subpopulations (“epi-clones”) drive glioblastoma treatment resistance, combining patient-derived cell and organoid models with single-cell DNA methylation and transcriptomic profiling.
This is an opportunity to lead a well-resourced experimental programme with substantial intellectual ownership and help shape the direction and culture of a newly established laboratory. The 42-month appointment provides unusual continuity—from developing longitudinal treatment models and discovering resistant cell states through to therapeutic validation and first-author publication.
Applicants should hold, or shortly expect to hold, a relevant PhD and have strong hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology. Experience with patient-derived models, organoids, drug or radiotherapy assays, or sequencing library preparation would be advantageous. Computational experience is not required: tailored training and support in bioinformatics and single-cell analysis will be provided.
Research Assistant – Opening Soon

We are seeking an enthusiastic research assistant or technician to join the newly established Nicholson Lab. The successful candidate will investigate the mechanisms that allow glioblastoma cells to change state and resist treatment, using cancer cell culture, CRISPR–Cas9 editing, drug-response assays and single-cell RNA sequencing.
This is an opportunity to contribute to a focused, well-resourced project combining computational discovery with experimental validation. Working closely with Dr James Nicholson, the postholder will test candidate regulators of tumour-cell plasticity and generate single-cell datasets to understand how glioblastoma cells respond to genetic and pharmacological perturbation.
Applicants should hold a degree in a relevant biological subject. Experience in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques would be advantageous, but extensive prior experience is not required. Training and support will be provided in the project’s specialist experimental and sequencing methods.
